Academic Profile

Dr. Iantheia Calhoun’s Curriculum Vitae

Teaching Philosophy
“My teaching philosophy is rooted in one simple word—Love. The love of self, neighbor (students,
community, and humanity at-large), and of lifelong thinking and learning is essential for teaching.”

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitment
“As an African American woman, I know firsthand the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
in education and our community at-large. I grew-up in Southside Chicago, an environment richly steeped
in an African American heritage. My culture was always one of inclusion. I was taught we (human beings)
are one and we All bring different flavors to the “soup.” Throughout my college experiences and world
travels, my passion increased for learning music and traditions of my own ethnicity and culture as well as
those different from mine.
